JUDGE BARRY RUSSELL has been a bankruptcy judge in the Central District of California since 1974. During this tenure he has been the Chief Judge for the Central District (2003-2007), served on the Appellate Panel for the Ninth Circuit (1988-2001) and serves as the presiding Judge for the BAP (1999-2001). He has been on the faculty of the Federal Judicial Center since 1977 and an Adjunct Professor at UCLA, USC, Loyola and Whittier Law Schools. His has been the author of Bankruptcy Evidence Manual published by Thomson-West since 1987. Judge Russell has received the American Bar Association's Franklin N. Flaschner Judicial Award as the Outstanding Judge in the United States in a trail court of special jurisdiction, the Judges' Award given by the Southern California Mediation Association, the Emil Gumpert Judicial ADR Award given by the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Services, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association Outstanding Jurist Award. Judge Russell received his BS and JD degrees at the University of California at Los Angeles.
